Why Switch Coffee for Tea?

Why Switch Coffee for Tea?

Maybe we’re biased, but tea has many benefits beyond simply tasting delicious! Find out below why you should switch your daily coffee to a cup of tea instead.

The average person in the UK drinks at least 2 cups of coffee a day, but it’s not necessarily a healthy habit to have.

When it comes to caffeine…

Tea might have a lower caffeine concentration than coffee, but it still contains enough to give you an effective energy boost without the possible side effects of anxiety, heart palpitations and insomnia. Even though coffee might provide an instantaneous awake feeling, tea offers a slower release of energy that lasts all morning.

Caffeine is an addictive substance, so high levels of it may lead to dependency and possible withdrawal symptoms. Many opt for coffee for concentration purposes, but studies have shown that tea is actually more effective at sharpening the mind.

Green Tea is our most caffeinated variety, whilst English Breakfast also contains some, but neither have as much as coffee. Matcha is another great coffee alternative and has been proven to boost brain function.

However you choose to consume caffeine, it can stay in your system for up to six hours, affecting your ability to sleep. For a restful night, switch to our Decaf English Breakfast or Peppermint after 3pm (both fully caffeine-free).

Health Benefits

It’s not just energy that tea can give you; it has countless other benefits! These include reducing stress, improving cardiovascular health, lowering cholesterol, and boosting immunity. A 2015 study also highlighted that people who drink three cups a day appear to have a 37% lower risk of depression than those who do not. On the other hand, the high levels of caffeine in coffee may trigger nausea and heartburn.

Try our Lemongrass & Ginger for easing your digestion and relieving nausea, or Peppermint to ease your muscles and promote relaxation.

Environmental Impact

Being organic, our tea is much more environmentally friendly than most leading tea and coffee brands: there are no artificial additives or chemicals used in its production. Furthermore, tea leaves can be composted or added to your garden as a fertiliser, reducing waste. Meanwhile, certain brands within the hot beverage industry contribute to deforestation, greenhouse gas emissions and water pollution. Coffee or tea, make sure to select Fairtrade, organic or ethically-sourced suppliers.

Tea makes life more exciting…

There are so many flavours of tea available; why stick to boring old coffee when you could try a new flavour of tea every day? Tea comes in a range of varieties including Black, White, Green, Jasmine, Yellow, Oolong, Matcha and Rooibos. We also stock tea blends such as Peppermint, Earl Grey, Lemongrass and Ginger, Red Berry and Spicy Chai

Consider switching up your regular routine and let us know if you notice any of the benefits!
