Fairtrade Fortnight 2023

Beginning in the evening of February 27th and continuing until March 12th, Fairtrade Fortnight will shine a light on the benefits of buying Fairtrade through a series of online and in-person events.

With climate change accelerating, it is becoming harder to grow some of society’s favourite supermarket items such as chocolate, coffee, and bananas. With the addition of extremely unfair trade, these crops are on the verge of vanishing from the shelves.

This year, Fairtrade Fortnight is hosting The Endangered Aisle from February 28th through March 2nd. The Endangered Aisle is a public pop-up event located in Shoreditch, East London. The pop-up aims to bring the supermarket staples most at risk to the forefront of our minds.

Additionally, the Foundation is holding Big Fairtrade Get-Togethers similar to last year’s virtual seminars. The get-togethers are live, online events where you have the opportunity to hear from Fairtrade farmers and learn how you can help create a sustainable future for some of our favourite foods. Take this opportunity as a chance to get any additional questions answered by a panel of Fairtrade farmers and experts.

At Fairtrade Fortnight, thousands of people come together to share the stories of people behind our morning cups of coffee and the shirt on our backs. Do you ever wonder where the food you buy at the supermarket comes from? Because it goes a lot further than the Cadbury warehouse. People thousands of miles away spend their days farming and working for that food to exist.

The pandemic taught us just how interconnected we are globally, so let’s support our peers around the world and buy Fairtrade.
