Eco-friendly Christmas

Eco-friendly Christmas

As the holiday season approaches, there is also a growing awareness of the importance of celebrating Christmas in an eco-friendly way.

With increasing issues about climate change and its impact on our future, here are three ways you can help the environment this Xmas.

1. LED lights - if you use lights around the house, instead of the usual ones, use the energy efficient LED lights as they consume less electricity and last longer.

2. Christmas presents - When it comes to buying presents for your loved ones, consider giving them e-gift cards for a range of experiences, such as a spa day, a restaurant dinner, or a movie ticket. You can also give them great coffee, a range of NEMI Teas, non-plastic water bottles, or sustainable candles.

3. Food waste - The issue of food waste becomes particularly prominent during holiday seasons, especially Christmas. Unfortunately, during this time quite a significant amount of food goes to waste. From uneaten leftovers to discarded ingredients, the excess of food during Christmas can have a substantial environmental and ethical impact.

You can reduce food waste by giving any excess food to local organisations which support people in need. Or if you have food to dispose of, consider composting your food scraps instead of throwing them in the bin.
