4-STEPS TEA-BASED ROUTINE
4-step tea-based routine
We’ve prepared a 4-steps tea based daily routine for summertime…100% sustainable!
STEP 1 – Hydrate
Start your day by hydrating your body; drink a glass of water after waking up and cup of iced tea just afterwards!
The Basic Formula:
Serves 4 and makes 1 litre of iced tea:
Use a heatproof 1 litre jug
Pop in four tea bags or 4 teaspoons of loose-leaf tea of your choice (We suggest green tea or lemongrass and ginger!)
Add freshly boiled water till 1/3 full. Brew for 5 minutes and add 2/3 cold water
Ice cubes
You can fancy this recipe with other ingredients like fresh berries, slides of lemon or any milk you like. See our recipes for inspiration!
STEP 2 – Hydrate your skin with a Facial Green Tea Mist
An important aspect of summertime is skincare. As you know, with more time spent in the sun, our skin has different needs! A lot of us probably use moisturizers or lotions, but a valid, sustainable, and organic to a heavy cream is a refreshing a moisturizing facial mist. And you can make it, using your beloved NEMI Green tea!
Here are the ingredients:
2-4 tablespoons of our Green tea
Citrus peel (preferably grapefruit but lemon and lime also work!)
1 ounce Vitamin E oil
1 ounce olive oil
½ cup water
Small 3-ounce spray bottle
Fill the spray bottle 1/3 of the way with the Vitamin E oil and 1/3 of the way with olive oil. Next, heat the water on the stove and add your desired amount of green tea leaves. Once the water has come to a boil, add your citrus peel and remove the mixture from the stove. Once the water has cooled, strain the mixture to remove the tea leaves and citrus peel. Add your steeped mixture to fill up the rest of the spray bottle and refrigerate your completed mixture for about an hour.
And voila - you’ve got a hydrating and moisturizing facial spray that’s lightweight, organic, and smells delicious. Keep your spray in the fridge so that it will last longer and cool you down throughout the summer! Just make sure to shake the bottle well before you use it on your face to mix together the oil and the water.
STEP 3 - Protect your skin with a tea-based sunscreen
Ingredients:
One tablespoon of natural beeswax
1/2 cup boiling water
4-5 tablespoons loose-leaf black tea (try our Earl-Grey blend)
1/2 cup sesame oil
2 drops lavender essential oil (optional)
Start by infusing the water with your loose-leaf black tea for about 20 minutes or so. Once your tea has finished steeping, go ahead and remove your tea leaves and move on to the next step!
Next, you’ll need a double broiler to melt the beeswax. Heat the water over medium heat and place your beeswax and oil in the bowl. Once your mixture is completely melted, remove it from the heat. Mix all of your ingredients together (you’ll need a hand-held mixer or a standing mixer for this part of the recipe). Begin by mixing the beeswax and oil mixture, and then slowly pour the warm tea into the mixture. Blend all of the ingredients until it becomes thick, similar to a lotion. If you decide to add essential oil, you can do that at this point in the recipe!
That’s it! Once everything has been blended together, you can put it into jars or travel-sized shampoo bottles for future use. This all-natural sun care product will last about 3 months in the fridge, and it can be frozen to last even longer.
